Malaysia Woodsball League is the evolution of competitive Woodsball in Malaysia, the idea behind building yet another Woodsball league or another paintball league is to cater for the ever growing demands of the players.
Over the years various formats have been introduced, the first international level Woodsball tournament Malaysian International Eco Paintball Challenge (MIEPC) was run in 2009, run by Delta Paintball Malaysia. The format a medley of the older Woodsball tournament formats with an Eco twist, the one off tournament had participants from all over south east asia competing to be the best.
With the end of MIEPC 2010 saw the introduction of the Ultimate Woodsball League (UWL) Franchise, which was brought in by a Delta Paintball in association with Tanamera Paintball Park, Mudtrekker Paintball Park and Paintball Breeder. In the first year 3 legs were run under this management and had a successful following. UWL has since continued to run in Malaysia under different management and still receives a steady following.
2011 a new tournament series started, Tactical Paintball Challenge (TPC), this new style of Woodsball brought a fast paced game on a field slightly larger than a speedball field. TPC has been successfully run not only in Kuala Lumpur but in other regions of the country. With the experiences gained from organizing MIEPC, UWL and hosting TPC among other events, it is time to develop a new format which balances speed, tactics and firepower, which also show cases a change from the old fashioned flag system with something modern and spectator friendly. The MWL format has been designed with various new elements, electronic buzzers and timers, true milsim division and the insert players an element borrowed from the Werd Format.
MWL has been designed so all kind of players can play, from the serious milsim players, to the weekend Woodsball warriors to Speedballers, they can all compete in divisions catering to their style and firepower. By doing this MWL is not restricting competition, but encouraging any who dare compete.
The Unofficial Lauch of MWL took place at Command and Conquer (C&C) Langkawi in November 2011 during the Paintball World Cup Asia (WCA).
It saw a host of teams including Pro-Team TonTons, and Ledz of Planet Eclipse take part in a Clash of Nations Europe VS Asia demo game using the MWL format. The tournament saw Raskals Avengers featuring Ledsz take home the First Prize and Unknown (currently UWL 3rd ranked team in the world) taking second place. With good feedback all around, MWL is off to a good start with talks of international expansion having already started.

MWL is a format designed to cater to 3 different kinds of woodsball; milsim, tactical woodsballers, and Open. These different division provide, 3 very different playing options allowing players of distinct styles to play at their own level and style. Each different category has its only rules and marker restrictions, designed to create 3 distinct levels of play.
